Access Consultancy...
With
the final duty under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA
1995) now in force, building owners/occupiers who provide a
service to the public have obligations to make reasonable
adjustments to ensure that those services are accessible to
persons with disabilites.
Disabilites take many forms and it is not simply a question of
providing ramps or a lift. Factors such as lighting, signage,
interior decor and company policy can all assist to make a
building accessible.
The
DDA 1995 itself is complex and Morse Property Consultants can
help clients to demonstrate compliance with the act by:
-
Undertaking an audit of the subject property
-
Identifying problem areas
-
Providing solutions to overcome the problem area
-
Formulating an action plan to implement the chosen solutions
-
Assisting with implementation
In
areas other than existing buildings, we can assist by carrying
out an access appraisal and address the following issues in
refurbishment and new build:
-
Examine plans to identify possible problems
-
Recommend solutions or alternative approaches
Employers have had obligations under the act since December 1996
and Morse Property Consultants is able to assist by:
-
Sensitively assessing the most effective adjustments for
employees
-
Implementing the selected adjustments
-
Assisting in formulating company policy documentation.
